Craig lives in central Lonsdale with his wife Joanne and their two children, Maddy and Louis. 

Craig has taught at Langara College since 1992 where he has developed popular courses in the history of the Middle East and environmental history. Joanne is a family physician who works on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. 
Craig has been a passionate advocate on Council on such issues as affordable housing, sustainability, urban agriculture, alternative transportation (including cycling and the development of an urban trail network), and the maintenance and expansion of services for youth, seniors and new Canadians.






Craig has served four terms on City Council. He has been a City representative on the following committees:
- Museum and Archives Commission
- Recreation Commission
- Arts Commission
- Chamber of Commerce
- Social Plan Advisory Committee
- Parks and Environment Advisory Committee
- Advisory Committee on Disability Issues

He was chair of the North Shore Task Force on Substance Abuse and has served on the Metro Vancouver Finance, Waste, and Water Committees as well as the Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee.

He is the City's representative on the Translink Mayor's Council.
